Theme: Youth-driven climate and environmental justice projects that inspire for a sustainable future
Eligibility
- San Diego County resident
- Grades 9 through 12
- Individual or team participation up to 4 members
Possible Topic Areas
1. Transportation - Innovations in sustainable transport.
2. Green Building and Design - Eco-friendly architectural designs.
3. Food Systems - Sustainable agricultural practices and food production.
4. Water Management - Efficient water use and conservation strategies.
5. Circular Economy and Waste Management - Solutions for recycling and waste reduction.
6. Renewable Energy - Projects focusing on alternative energy sources.
7. Emerging Innovation – Projects that may be a combination of all or address a sustainability or environmental problem not mentioned.

Judging Criteria
1. Innovation and Originality (20%):
· Creativity in approach.
· Novelty of the idea.
2. Relevance to Environmental Justice and Climate Change (20%):
· Addressing key issues in these areas.
· Potential impact on mitigating climate change.
3. Feasibility and Sustainability (20%):
· Practicality of implementation.
· Long-term sustainability of the solution.
4. Inclusivity and Equity (20%):
· Accessibility of the solution to diverse populations.
· Addressing the needs of marginalized communities.
5. Presentation Quality (10%):
· Clarity and coherence of the submitted material.
· Quality of the model, drawing, or paper.
6. Problem Clearly Defined (10%):
· What challenge is being addressed or solved.
